We’re John and Shasta Walton, a husband-and-wife team with deep roots in lawn care service, handyman services, and military service. For 22 years, John’s mission was helping people. Today, that mission continues just in a new uniform.
Our journey began two decades ago when we launched our first lawn care business in Sanford, NC. That experience sparked our passion for outdoor work. However, duty called, and our family began an adventure that took us across the country with the US Coast Guard.

Later, while stationed in Elizabeth City, NC, we started John Boy's Lawn Care as a side hustle. During that time, we built relationships and refined our skills. Eventually, we received orders to Alaska, and we sold that business.
After 22 years in the Coast Guard, we wanted to put down roots. Wilmington, NC, offered family nearby, new opportunities, and coastal charm—without the Florida humidity that was a deal-breaker for Shasta.

Why We Merged Our Businesses
We started with two businesses: Lawn Hero LLC for landscaping and lawn maintenance, and Handy Heroes LLC for handyman services. Over time, we realized that homeowners and businesses needed a one-stop solution for both indoor and outdoor property maintenance. As a result, we merged to form Home and Lawn Hero, offering a full range of services under one trusted name.
